The Children’s Music Program at First Universalist strives to enrich the lives of our children and instill in them the confidence to learn and enjoy life through the power of music.
Tell me, I forget…
Show me, I remember…
Involve me, I understand.
It is this philosophy that provides direction for our Children’s Music Program. Whether it be in one of our choirs, the Chalice Sparks and Chalice Flames, or the musicals we produce twice a year, it is our mission to provide a non-competitive, experiential atmosphere for learning that combines music education with the values of Unitarian Universalism.
Open to all children grades K-3. We introduce each child to the interactive wonders of music through games, songs, and experiences. We have fun learning all the parts that make up music and deepen the desire to sing! The Chalice Sparks meet on Tuesdays from 5:30-6:00 p.m. at First Plymouth UCC Church (SW corner of Colorado and Hampden) and perform at the first worship service on Sunday once a month.
Open to all children grades 4-7. Our purpose is to continue developing the voice and to introduce children to melodic and percussive instruments. The Chalice Flames meet on Tuesdays from 6:00-6:45 p.m. at First Plymouth UCC Church and perform at both worship services on Sunday once a month.
Our church is filled with little ‘hams’ who love to perform for their community! Each year, we offer a holiday musical on the third Sunday in December, and we also perform a spring musical celebrating the earth.
