For our November selection, we decided to read On Tyranny: Twenty Lessons from the Twentieth Century by Timothy Snyder. When your government takes a hard turn to the right, it’s hard to know what to expect and just how concerned you should be. Snyder is a historian who reviews the lessons of tyranny in the twentieth century to give us a road map of what to watch out for and to highlight some wisdom to keep us from repeating the mistakes of our predecessors. The book weighs in at a slim 130 pages so it should be easy to finish.
Until First Universalist reopens, we’re going to continue meeting at Stella’s Coffee House, 1476 South Pearl Street, Denver, CO 80210. The next meeting is on Monday, November 27th at 7:00 PM.
We meet on the fourth Monday of each month. Newcomers are always welcome, and those present select a new text to read for the next month. We read both fiction and non-fiction, always with a focus on social justice. Contact Ian Jaffe: email@example.com or 303-941-8891.
