The Freedom Fund (TFF)

Please note: While this fund was formed at First Universalist in 1984 in response to the Colorado change in legislation to prohibit Medicaid funding for abortions, TFF is now a program of the Unitarian Universalist Mountain Desert District (MDDUUA) to expand services. TFF is committed to women’s reproductive rights and to the women who exercise those rights. The Fund works to empower women to seek and receive reproductive care to advance their own health and wellbeing and that of their families. It believes that a woman’s choice to have an abortion is never easy. Through fund raising efforts, it hope to make safe, legal abortion more accessible to women with limited financial means. This work is sustained by generous donations from like-hearted individuals and congregations.

The mission of The Freedom Fund is to work toward reproductive justice for all women and to provide financial assistance to women who seek an abortion but are unable to pay the full cost. The program is guided by the principles of freedom, equality, and the right of choice.
